topic: Any good racing game coming?

There are some grat racing game series on consoles. Play Station got Gran Turismo and Xbox have PGR and Forza. Those games are "system sellers". I really miss this kind of games on PC, they are not silly arcades like Sega games or like Need For Speeds but still they are not so hard like simulations that I love like rFactor. Last time it is very bad with racing games. Every year there is new NFS but... it's very boring, easy and crapy. Last year there was TDU but it was only good online and had BUGs. Last good racing series on PC are those from Codemasters, TOCA and Dirt. But still there is no EXCLUSIVE racing series for PC ( there are sims but those game are not for everyone).

GT5 or FM2+PGR4 are very strong reasons to buy PS3 or Xbox 360. Mainly reason to buying console for my friends are also those exclusive racing titles.

There are a number of MMOs on their way on the PC, which clearly is making the MMO genre dominant on the PC platform. But you don't wanna see the FPS, RTS and RPG games being pushed to the consoles too much, that way the Platform will become weak. People are already saying that WOW and The SIMS are what are keeping the PC alive. Although that is BS, you don't wanna see that as a reality in the next 5 to 10 years.

Motivation is a basic human emotion, if you can't motivate people with your game, you've already lost.

Piracy is too easy and too well known. It takes less than minute to find a game uploaded on torrents or rapidshare. It's easier to pirate the game than buy one. But yeah, making good game is best way to good sell.

And what about MMOs? I'm really looking forward into All Point's Bulletin, Huxley, Global Agenda and 1944 D-Day ( but is this game ever be finished?).

And where's new Battlefield? I'm not talking about Bad Company or Heroes but some real BF2 successor. I think EA prefer bust our money than making games.

I've been using vista for some time now, eventhough the feel is somewhat different and it looks great, the bottom line is that it seriously needs to be patched up, they have to address serious performance issues, most of the time it's slower than XP, I've used vista on a core 2 duo system. And it was a shame really to experience such a thing.

I think the bottom line is that they wanna decrease piracy. It does'nt matter if the pirates get the game before hand or after. Secondly Pirates don't get the games 99% before the release, if you've ever researched to see how these folks actually get them online, most of the time you won't see a game online unless it was poorly protected. Steam still does'nt cut it out.

I think the protection system on Bioshock was fantastic.

It's not about me not liking it, I've also played a lot of other games under THQ's belt, honestly stalker is not among the "Greats" of the PC platform, you can say all you want that it is. But the facts are clear from the sales and popularity. One more thing when you say the word GREAT for a pc title think something like starcraft, quake, sims, etc.

Things to address:

1) Pirates get 99% of the games sooner than buyers.
2) Pirates don't have to deal with intrussive copy protection programs, and can play with no DVD.

Conclusion: pirates life is easier and they are happier than buyers.

How to fight it?. Well Steam offers a solution to both problems. You can buy a retail or digital version, but both versions must be activated online. Games like Orange Box and Lost Planet are added to Steam account, even if you buy disk version. Data is encrypted and won't decrypt until the official release date. It does not matter that pirates get a copy of the game disk before it hits the stores, the data is useless until Steam releases the game.

The game may be pirated later, but you have achieved this:

1) Buyers get the game first, pirates have to wait.
2) Buyers don't have to fight with copy protection, and can play with no DVD.
3) Buyers will get automatic game updates, pirates will have to apply patches manually and wait for cracks.

Now buyers are happier than pirates

Problems?. Well you need an internet connection to activate the game, so it may left out some users, but I don't think many people will be affected, I think it's worth.

Nobody's being title biased, it's just stalker was'nt a great game and until the second is released and we see a quality game, we can't put it in list this year, sorry. It do well in sales either, that shows how popular it is.

Disciples III: Renaissance, Demigod, Vampyre Story, Still Life 2, AVENCAST: Rise of the Mage, Dragon Age has been pushed to 2009, Sacred 2, Rise of the argonauts, Project Offset, Legendary and Section 8
oh yeah these are worth a shout.
Panzers: Cold War, Worldshift, Damnation, Perimeter 2, question marks on the quality of these games.

True. Live just doesn't work. And again... MS want you to pay but there is no support like Xbox Live gets. And hey MS I'm paying you NOW and HERE I don't give you a CREDIT to work out Vista in future.

I also prefer PC multiplayer gaming style. Leagues, simracing, clan wars and maybe sometimes for fun Crysis or BF2 with more players than 16. I hate donation for Live. Sometimes I don't have even time to touch MP so I don't want to pay for something that I'm not using. Also for a long time game makers shown us that they can make servers, patches from cash on retail sales. Big one for Crytek. They made great community (crymod.com) and are giving very good support for players and also they don't worry about requrements they just pushed graphic and physic to the limit. Another good idea is Steam. I think there should be some statistic systems, easy operating friend list with "join" option and maybe rankings, achivments and events so players will play more.

I still don't understand why you can't have Stalker Clear Sky on "Games that Push PC gaming" list just because you were disappointed in the first one. Surely forum members aren't going to be title biased when many many others will enjoy stalker and clear sky. This list should be fairly broad.

True. For me Stalker was one of the best games in 2007. I was addicted just after first start, couldn't stop playing for weeks!

I think everyone should see this list.

Hi Noriega, I understand your pain and anger. You see MS made a mistake when they thought they wanted to a single gaming field for xbox gamers and windows gamers. You see the truth is that when it comes to MP gaming, Console and PC gamers don't mix, which is understandable because they have different tastes and the skill levels of PC gamers are fantastic.

In order to make something work ,which was a mistake in the first place, MS will make more mistakes(which is exactly what their doing.

Cutting support for XP is like saying "You know what take vista, or you don't get anything."

It's only a matter of time before game devs get together and stand up against these stupid policies by MS, everyone knows that all the Big Guns in the games industry DO NOT WANT TO ABANDON DX9 and XP, cause they know that a huge fan base still wants to stay their.

Yeah maybe Vista will become better when SP1 comes out, but still, if the developers are ready to develop for the older technology just to get a huge number of gamers to play their game, which is always good for the platform. What is MS's problem, we'll never know.

Secondly Windows live gaming and the $80 per year gold subscription for MP gaming is a rip off, nobody appreciates it and should until their a decent package available.

MP gaming is free on the PC, you get your serial keys with games and that's all you need to play online or on servers, Windows Live Gaming is UNACCEPTABLE in it's current state.

With all due respect, games like Gears and Halo, don't really affect PC Gaming. Their great games on the consoles, no doubt, but on the PC their just good. Maybe you could say that's because of the delays between releases, but then again look at bioware, they've ported their RPGs from the xbox/xbox 360, why do they do well on the PC with their fanbase on the PC?

I just believe that what really needs to be done is pretty simple, but you know what they say simplicity comes through complexity.

Make Great Exclusive Games, which people will buy(Other than MMOs). The FPS, RPG and RTS Genres are still popular with PC Gamers.

And secondly I know there's a hardware arms race going on, but developers don't have to push it. The Specs should be reasonable & Piracy will eventually decrease.

I bought Vista while I was reading about gamers support, more games and more ports of consoles hits. Now I know that all was **it. I'm still playing and working on XP, I just have worst performance on Vista and this system is unstable. I think MS is killing PC gaming with Vista and their STUPID LIVE. I was playing on Xbox Live it's is one big children garden, the players skill is even more low than their speaking culture... f**k you noob that's all what you hear there. And what about games? GoW AFTER 1 year? Where's GTA? Why MS paying R* for DLC and don't care about Windows users? I really don't know for what I spend those 200$

M$ just
