    Is Microsoft's DX12 a done deal?

The news about MS's DX12 addition to both the consoles and Windows is electrifying. Is DX12 a finished product that will be released once it is formally announced at GDC next month? My suspicion is that it is a "future" announcement that is being used to add FUD to the release of AMD's Mantle program. The timing of the two just seem to close not to be related somehow.

Seems like something they plan to release sometime this year (quite possibly in the next 6 months or so). With the announcement of it, I do wonder what is gonna happen with the adoption of Mantle. Are developers still going to work with it(if they even were planning to)?

I guess well find out in 3 days.

My opinion is no matter what is announced, its still going to take at least a year before we see anything concrete.

From what ive read, up until mantle was released, MS had absolutely no plans to reduce CPU overhead. I have a feeling this is a reaction to mantle.
